Pin Grading Guideline
Pins are just like humans, they have imperfections. The reason we established this guideline is to classify these imperfections, from minor to major defects. Please take note that pin gradings differ depending from maker to maker. We made ours to avoid confusion, read or ignore at your own risk! :<
A Grade - Standard Grade
This are the pins with an almost perfect standard. Imperfections are seen only in an upclose observation. These imperfections may not or MAY be...
- Light surface scuffing or light scratch on the enamel or metal.
- Light or very small nicks on the enamel or metal.
- Some plating imperfections on sides of pin.
- Slightly low filling.
- Faint plating discoloration.
- Slight excess enamel.
B Grade - Seconds Grade
These are pins with minor defects. Imperfections may or may not be noticeable upon first glance, probably on the second.
- Tiny, popped air bubble and left a baby mark.
- Small traces of random debris (dust, fuzz, etc.).
- Missing metal lines.
- Unfilled areas of enamel.
- Enamel staining on sides or back of pin.
- Slightly low-filled enamel.
- Noticeable points of imperfections on the metal plating.
- Noticeable popped air bubbles and left a baby marks.
- More noticeable scratches or scruffs on surfaces.
C Grade - Major Defects
These are the pins with MAJOR defects that prevent them from being sold. These pins are never put up for sale and are only sometimes offered for free during specials or sales. - Large gouges or marks on enamel.
- Large or deep scratches in enamel.
- Large areas of low-filled enamel.
- Plating defects.
- Large or multiple popped air bubble.
- Large or multiple areas of missing metal lines
- Multiple areas of enamel staining or discolored enamel
- Low quality enamel or metal work
- Dirty metal.
